A store opening designed as an experience

The opening of a store is more than just opening new doors. It is a moment of new beginnings, of encounters and of first impressions. In Nuremberg it even became a very special chapter, because the opening of the new HORNBACH store was also a reopening. After around ten months of construction, a new building was completed on Trierer Straße, replacing the previous store dating back to 1988. With approximately 14,000 m² of retail space, a 3,500 m² garden centre and a 4,000 m² drive-in, the store is one of the most modern combined DIY and garden centres with a drive-in in Middle Franconia, combining modern shopping experiences with the needs of DIY enthusiasts, gardening lovers and professional customers alike.

HORNBACH celebrated this special milestone over two event days that turned the new store into a lively meeting place for families, customers, trade businesses and business partners – and showed just how differently one and the same place can be experienced.

The festivities kicked off with a big family day, during which the new sales area became a world of experiences. Between live music, hands-on activities, a photo booth and culinary offerings, a relaxed atmosphere emerged that invited visitors to explore, to linger and to share the experience together. Children discovered the activity areas, families took part in creative offerings, and many visitors used the opportunity to get to know the new store for the first time in a relaxed setting.

Just two days later, professional customers took centre stage. Around 400 tradespeople, commercial customers and business partners came together for an exclusive professionals' evening. The modern infrastructure of the new location provided a fitting setting. Food trucks, music and a high-quality supporting programme created space for personal conversations, new contacts and exchange within the industry. What began as a store opening became a customer event that brought people together and established the new location as a meeting point for the regional trades and construction sector within its very first days.

To turn the opening of one of the region's most modern HORNBACH stores into an experience for very different target groups, numerous trades had to mesh seamlessly. From the technical infrastructure to the coordination of artists and service providers, through to looking after guests and managing the schedule on site, the result was a coherent overall experience. The reopening in Nuremberg therefore became not only the launch of a new store, but an event that brought people together and filled the new location with life right from the start.
